"Pakistan's ODI cricket team captain Babar Azam has handed over his No. 1 ranking as the world's top ODI batsman to India's opening batsman Shibman Gill, in the latest MRF Tires ICC Men's Batting Rankings.
India's promising young talent Shibman Gill scored a total of 219 runs in six innings thanks to his brilliant performance in the ICC Men's Cricket World Cup 2023.
Babar Azam, on the other hand, has scored 282 runs in eight innings in the World Cup, which has moved him to the second spot, six rating points behind Gayle. Babar held the No. 1 ranking for two years and it ended today.
In another notable change, Shaheen Shah Afridi has moved up to fifth in the rankings, while Indian fast bowler Mohammad Siraj has moved up two places to become the new No. 1 ODI bowler."
