ICC Cricket world cup 2023

"India's dominant performance continued as they maintained their unbeaten streak and booked their place in the semi-finals of the World Cup with an impressive 243-run victory over South Africa at the Eden Gardens in Kolkata on 5 November  2023.

Facing India's formidable bowling attack, South Africa's batsmen struggled, losing five wickets for just 40 runs in just 13.1 overs.  Despite their reputation for fearless cricket, the Proteas could not find their rhythm and kept losing wickets throughout the match, eventually being bundled out for just 83 runs, their heaviest defeat in this World Cup.

Ravindra Jadeja took five wickets for 33 runs.  Rohit Sharma's explosive innings in the first innings, which included eight fours, put India in a strong position, scoring more than 90 runs in the first 10 overs.  However, both Sharma and Shubman Gill fell quickly, leaving the team at 93-2 after 10.3 overs.

Virat Kohli and Shreyas Iyer then put on a crucial partnership of 134 runs, driving the innings and adapting to Kolkata's challenging pitch.  Despite the pitch being more difficult for the batsmen, especially against the spinners, Kohli and Iyer provided stability without sacrificing the run rate thanks to Sharma's quick start.

Iyer scored 77 runs off 87 balls which included nine fours while Kohli, celebrating his 35th birthday, scored a brilliant century with 101 runs off 121 balls.  It marked Kohli's 49th ODI century, equaling legendary Sachin Tendulkar's record.

Kohli stayed at the crease till the last ball and in the final overs he got valuable support from Surya Kumar Yadav (22 off 14) and Ravindra Jadeja (29 off 15), helping India to a total of 326 in their allotted overs.  got  can do"
