“Tesla ( TSLA.O ) has set an ambitious target of producing 200,000 units of its electric pickup truck, the CyberTruck, each year, Chief Executive Officer Elon Musk revealed on Tuesday.
Earlier, the company said its production capacity for the Cybertruck could exceed 125,000 units annually. Musk also expressed the ability to take production to 250,000 units by 2025.
The long-anticipated delivery of the Cybertruck is set to begin on November 30, nearly four years after Musk initially unveiled it at an event in Los Angeles. During this episode, an infamous incident occurred where a metal ball inadvertently damaged the vehicle's "armor glass" window during a series of tests.
During a recent episode of the "Joe Rogan Experience" podcast, Musk emphasized the challenges associated with manufacturing the Cybertruck, saying, 'We plan to make about 200,000 units a year during production... maybe A little more than that. However, I cannot stress enough that manufacturing is significantly more challenging than the initial design.'
In a previous earnings call, Musk acknowledged the difficulties associated with manufacturing the Cybertruck, and noted that the company could face significant challenges ramping up production."
