Prominent West Indies all-rounder Jason Holder played a key role in the Caribbean team's ICC World Cup 2023 qualifier campaign, although they failed to qualify for the main event in India.

In a recent statement, Holder stressed the importance of addressing internal issues to elevate the national cricket team's performance at the international level.  He expressed his disappointment at not making it to the 2023 World Cup and pointed out that the Caribbean cricket structure, starting at the franchise level, needs significant improvement and oversight.  Holder emphasized that stability in this structure is key to nurturing and producing sustainable talent.  Additionally, he highlighted the need for better cricket facilities to support the abundance of talent in the Caribbean.

Jason Holder believes there are many talented players who can lead West Indies cricket to a bright future, Alec Athanaz being one of them.

The veteran all-rounder also shared the challenges faced as a rising star with high expectations.  He emphasized that the Caribbean has never been short of talent, but young players, including Alec Athanase, need a strong support system.  Holder acknowledged the pressure on young talent to make the transition from Under-19 cricket to the international stage.  He noted that while the system is improving, change takes time, and individuals need to find their own paths to success.  In Holder's opinion, Alec Athanase has the talent and right attitude to become a cricketing sensation.
